Boxco enclosures have defined the electrical industry for more than 20 years and have paved the way for quality and reliability with a variety of hinge-type, screw-type, and plastic terminal block box enclosures that offer a variety of user-friendly, practical features while keeping enclosed components clean, safe, and protected.
Boxco has garnered a series of accreditations and certifications over the years, including but not limited to ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications, along with the European Union’s CE Mark and, from the United States, the Underwriter’s Laboratory’s 508A Certification. Their electrical enclosures exhibit a high level of reputable quality and durability across the board.
Here’s what Boxco electrical enclosures offer, and what we sell here at Products for Automation.
What Is the Purpose of an Electrical Enclosure?
Electrical enclosures are a class of box-like devices or cabinets that enclose and secure electrical components, including but not limited to switches, knobs, displays, and other electrical connections.
Electrical enclosures not only protect operators and users from the hazards of shock but also protect the enclosed electrical components against potentially damaging or compromising external factors.
For instance, some electrical enclosures are waterproof, dust-proof, and sunlight resistant. Some electrical enclosures also protect components within from electrostatic discharge, electromagnetic interference, heat, and other potentially damaging factors and conditions.
Boxco produces more than 20 different lines of aluminum and plastic enclosures, but at Products for Automation, we offer the best of three of their specific lines. Here are some of the things you can expect from our Boxco enclosures.
Boxco Enclosures: Hinge and Latch P-Series (Pictured Above)
Our P-Series Boxco enclosures are made with either ABS or polycarbonate. Polycarbonate, AKA polycarb, is an extremely durable thermoplastic that is up to 250 times stronger than glass and offers excellent mechanical properties and shatter-resistance. ABS can also withstand heavy use and is strong, impact-resistant, and chemical-resistant, too.
The polycarbonate enclosures in this line are also glass fiber reinforced and UV-resistant, which makes them potentially suitable for use in areas exposed to sunlight. If you have specific questions about suitability or specification, reach out to us.
The P-series polycarbonate enclosures have a temperature rating between -40℃ and 110℃ and the ABS enclosures come with a temperature rating of -40℃ to 70℃.
They are available with either a solid gray or a clear lid, which allows users to see into the enclosure without having to open it. This series features polyurethane gaskets that keep dust and water out; these Boxco enclosures come with IP ratings of either 66 or 67, offering total protection against dust ingress and protection either against directed jets of water (66) or against immersion up to 1 meter deep (67).
The P-series Boxco enclosures are available in multiple different sizes, ranging from 90cm x 120cm x 70cm to 630cm x 830cm x 285cm; they come with either one, two, or three latches, depending on the size.
The enclosures in this series are made with durable molded hinges and come with integrated key rings. This hinged interface allows relatively easy access as needed. They are also compatible with wall-mount brackets, locking latches, and back panels. Steel and plastic back panels are available.
Boxco Enclosures: Screw Cover S-Series
In addition to P-Series Boxco enclosures, we also carry S-Series enclosures that feature screw covers which offer a more secure layer of protection. These enclosures feature molded screw thread bases that are very strong and resistant to damage associated with over-tightening.
Like the P-Series enclosures, they are also made of either ABS or polycarbonate and offer the same working temperature ratings mentioned in the last section. They offer similar chemical and physical properties to protect against impact and corrosion, and the polycarbonate versions are glass fiber reinforced and UV-resistant, for extra strength and sunlight resistance.
Boxco’s S-Series of screw-type enclosures is also available in a wide range of sizes, from 50cm x 65cm x 45cm on the low end to 380cm x 560cm x 180cm on the larger end. They utilize anywhere from 4 to 6 screws depending on the size of the enclosure and this configuration allows the lid to lift off completely when removed for easy access to the electrical components within.
These enclosures feature smooth walls with no knockouts and, like the P-Series an IP rating of either 66 or 67, ensuring complete protection against dust ingress and protection against either a jet of pressurized water (66) or submersion up to 1 meter (67).
They are also compatible with select electrical enclosure accessories, including mount brackets and back panels. Like the P-Series, they also are compatible with clear and opaque covers.
Boxco Enclosures: Dual-Door ATF/AGD-Series
We also carry dual-door ATF/AGD series which are made from polycarbonate and ABS. The ATF series features a full window with an inner door and the AGD series features an inner door with a partial window. The enclosures in this series feature removable inner doors, allowing better service access to the internal components on an as-needed basis.
These range in size from 200cm x 300cm x 130cm to 530cm x 630cm x 255cm and offer a variety of different levels of protection. Some offer IP ratings of 66 and 67, like our Boxco P and S-Series enclosures. Many of the ATF and AGD Series enclosures are non-flammable in accordance with UL94-HB.
These electrical enclosures are made with durable latches of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and come with integrated key rings. Like our other Boxco enclosures, they are configurable with back panels.
